 KERIEVA

We have  sent out many invitations to our event "ETERNAL WHEELS" to many of those within our race in hopes of support and contrbutions for the event,  our organisation and this website.

It was wonderful to have so many replies to this invitation and such positive remarks, support and contributions.  Amongst them was such a response from  muscian KERIEVA, who has participated in other events and shows in this country.

Kerieva told us: " I would love to help out in any way I can, it's important people understand our culture in a positive way and it sounds as though that's exactly what you are doing.  Unfortunately, I'm playing a festival in the north of Scotland that night."

Karieva, whilst unable to attend has kindly given us some music that we are will be playing at our event.

We have also offered to support her in the other important component of her life - her work within Human Rights for Roma.

Please scroll down to view a message from Karieva, where she explains alittle of her Human Rights work and the help and support she requires to continue this important work. We do encourage our members and the viewing public to read this request below and if you are  able  or know anyone who is able to support Karieva, then we urge you to contact us directly at our email address (on Contact us page) and we will pass these details to her.

Any responses must be IMMEDIATE as Karieva requires this support before September of this year (2008).

Here's the myspace link if you would like to listen to Karieva's wonderful talent:

A call for support from Kerieva

"As well as being a musician I have been active for many years in the Roma Rights movement both here and in Eastern Europe and have worked at grass-roots level and at UN level simultaneously, fighting for the rights of Romani people.

With my background you can imagine how hard it has been to get myself through university and higher education, but I'm proud to say that in 2005 I graduated with a First Class Master degree in Human Rights, which propelled me to keep going.

What is amazing is that I have now been offered a very special opportunity to return to Budapest and attend the Central European University(CEU) to take an access year to doctoral studies (PhD). This has been a great honour for me and the result of a lot of hard graft.

I would love nothing more than to start in September, but the problem is funding. This first academic year would not be funded in any way and as you can imagine, I am in no position to 'self fund'.

If you are aware of any sponsors, funders, philanthropists and/or individuals that perhaps are interested in Romani issues/ would be able to help me through this first year, then I would be so grateful if you could put us in contact.

Thanks for reading this.

All the very best for now,

KERIEVA"
